Ivey Creek Residence Phase 2
Portland, Oregon 2011
The owners of this mid-20th century residence sought planning and design services for phased renovations and efficiency upgrades to multiple areas of their home. These current improvements make for better daylighting into the interior and strengthen visual connections with the lush vegetation and mature trees on the property. An important goal is to improve the performance of the home without erasing its history of Pacific Northwest Modern detailing and materials.
The first phase of the project is an upgrade of the main bath area with new fixtures and finishes for ease of use and comfort. New cork flooring and built-in furniture of Douglas Fir complete the two adjacent rooms. New skylights, windows, and lighting fixtures meet contemporary energy-efficiency goals. Based on an energy audit, insulation upgrades to the full building envelope and mechanical systems were also addressed during this phase.
