This North Portland storefront improvement project, for a locally owned vegan market and café, is located in downtown St. Johns. The facades of the existing two story concrete commercial structure were renovated through the funding available from the Portland Development Commission. The project balanced building owner and business owner’s aspirations and budgets, PDC parameters, and St. John’s Main Street Program goals.

 

The project was designed to enhance the visibility of the existing business and to update the whole building through a new exterior color scheme which included painted murals and signage, exterior lighting and replanting of trees at the adjacent streetscape; while providing additional daylighting to the interior with a full glass entry door and transom.
