Lacamas Creek Residences

Camas, WA 2011

This project is a duplex infill development located on a bluff where Lacamas Creek and the Washougal River converge. The duplex is positioned on the back half of the original lot, with an existing home towards the north. The lot slopes down toward the water with views at the south.

The building design provides a shared covered entry for two units, which are arranged as ‘flats’ on two levels opening to the south and east for light and views, while maintaining privacy from neighboring buildings. The project seeks to provide a broad range of experiential qualities within each dwelling, and within tight budget and site development constraints. The building will have an enhanced level of insulation performance to reduce energy costs. High-efficiency mini-split heat pumps are used for heating and cooling, and air quality is maintained with heat recovery ventilation units and exhaust fans.
